What is the diameter vernier dial for?

In order to obtain the correct final crimping diameter on the ferrule, a vernier dial - which acts directly on the advancement stroke of the crimping machine – is necessary. Rotating the wheel to the right enables reducing the crimping diameter; rotating to the left enables increasing the crimping diameter. The maximum degree of adjustment precision is usually equivalent to 0.1 mm.

Example: in order to obtain a final 12-mm crimping diameter mounting a series of 10-mm dies considering that the diameter difference of the two is 2 mm, you have to rotate the wheel by two rounds to the left.
